P7 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ & The Supercar Generation

The development of the Supercar in the 1970s necessitated the creation of a new generation of extra wide low profile tires. Pirelli made significant advances in this field, producing the P7 tire in 1974. The internal structure of the P7 enabled a huge reduction in profile while breadth rose dramatically.

When the exceptionally low profile and high performance 345/35VR15 P7 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ debuted it stunned the motoring world with the performance that could be achieved with a tire. Lamborghini installed the new 345/35VR15 P7 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ to its flagship car, the Countach, and the world was stunned once more by what was then the widest tire ever installed to a road-legal car.

when the 345/35VR15 P7 was originally introduced, V was the maximum speed rating available, rather vaguely rated for speeds 149 mph +. It was not rated for its maximum speed. Since then, a Y speed rating (capable of 186mph / 300kmh) has been produced. All of these speed ratings apply to the 345/35VR15 Cinturato P7.

The side wall has its original lettering on it, so it looks fine with the V. However, if you look closely, you will discover that it also has in small letters 345/35 R 15 95Y inscribed on it, so it complies with present day motoring laws while also looking period correct.
