- The Pirelli P4000 has been out of production since 2011.
- Any Pirelli P4000 fitted to a car today is of an age where it should be replaced.
- For the most part the Pirelli P4000 is best replaced by the Pirelli Cinturato P5 Classic Jaguar tyre.
Pirelli P4000 Tyres
The Pirelli P4000 tyres came out at the end of the 1980s as a high performance low profile tyre for Executive performance tyres. The Pirelli P4000 ceased production in 2011, with no intention to produce them again. We suggest in most cases there is another Pirelli tyre available to fit.
Pirelli P4000 Jaguar Tyres
The Pirelli P4000 tyres were extremely popular with Classic Jaguar cars as they made all the important Jaguar sizes, and for a while they were extremely good value tyres in these sizes. People often fitted the 205/70ZR15 Pirelli P4000 was fitted to the series 3 e-type, XJ6, XJS and early XJ12. However in period as well as now, the 205/70R15 Pirelli Cinturato P5 is a much better option. The 215/70R15 Pirelli P4000 was also often fitted to the HE versions of XJS and XJ12, when again the 215/70R15 Pirelli Cinturato P5 is a much better option. Happily Pirelli also make the superb 225/65R15 Cinturato P5 as the perfect upgrade to a car that may have been fitted with the similar P4000. It is not that the P4000 was a bad tyre, quite the opposite. The P4000 was a more technically advanced tyre and did not suit the chassis set up so well as these earlier designs that suit the P5 perfectly.
