Pirelli Cinturato Classic & Vintage Tyres
The Pirelli Cinturato, first introduced in the 1950's, was the first example of a textile cord braced radial tyre. The Pirelli Cinturato quickly became the dominant radial tyre in European GT and sports car racing circles.
The Pirelli Cinturato combined unprecedented grip with high-speed capabilities, the Cinturato also gave a supremely comfortable ride. Not surprisingly, the Pirelli Cinturato soon became standard equipment on many of the great Italian marques of the era, including Ferrari, Maserati, and Lamborghini.
Pirelli History
In 1872 twenty-four year old engineer Giovanni Battista Pirelli founded Pirelli & C. in Milan. By the end of the century the Pirelli company had begun to produce insulated wires for telegraphy (1879) and undersea telegraph cables (1886).Pirelli launched their first pneumatic bicycle tyre in 1890 and the first Pirelli pneumatic car tyre appeared in 1901.
Pirelli's first victory in a motor race came in the Peking-Paris event in 1907, heralding a tradition of sporting success on two and four wheels consolidated over the years by figures such as Nuvolari, Ascari and Fangio.
In the Fifties , Pirelli introduced the Cinturato with radial-technology that was to shape the history of the tyre. In the mid-Seventies, Pirelli gave the world the low profile tyre named P7, their most significant technological innovation since the Cinturato.
