PIRELLI 165 VR 15 CINTURATO™ CN36 Tires
The PIRELLI CINTURATO™ CN36 is a classic performance tire that was first introduced by Pirelli in 1968. The CN36 was Pirelli's first tire available with a low profile!
165 - 15 Tires
During the 1960s, the 165/15 tire size was popular among major vehicle manufacturers, including Triumph with their TR5 and TR6, Lancia with the Flavia Flavia, and Porsche with their early 911 and 912 models.
165 R15 Classic Porsche Tires
The Porsche 911 was first introduced in 1963 and was equipped with 165/15 tires. Porsche used a range of tire brands, including the PIRELLI 165 HR 15 CINTURATO™ CA67. At the time, the CINTURATO CA67 was considered the top-of-the-line sports car radial tire, and it was the ideal choice for Porsche 356 drivers who wanted to upgrade from crossply 560-15 tires.
As technology advanced and the years passed, these cars continued to use 165-15 tires, but Porsche soon needed an update. Enter the CN36, a low-profile tire designed for more modern applications. However, Pirelli created the CN36 in the full profile 165-15 size to accommodate older Porsches.

Upgrading Crossply to 165VR15 Radial Tires
The PIRELLI 165 HR 15 CINTURATO CA67 is an iconic sports tire from the late 1950s and early 1960s that was also utilised throughout the 1970s. It is still the ideal tire for some vehicles, such as the MGC.
Pirelli released the CN36 with its higher V speed rating in 1968, along with their new 70% low profile tires. The PIRELLI 165 VR 15 CINTURATO™ CN36 radial tire is a great alternative to the 560 - 15 crossply size, but may be the better choice for cars with higher performance and more advanced chassis designs, such as the Porsche 356 and early 911 and 912 models.
PIRELLI 165 VR 15 CINTURATO™ CN36 Tire Test
A German publication conducted a classic tire test and crowned the PIRELLI CN36 CINTURATO as the best. Porsche has approved these tires as the best choice for its classic cars.
PIRELLI 165 VR 15 CINTURATO™ CN36 Porsche Homologation
The PIRELLI 165 VR 15 CINTURATO™ CN36 N tire has been homologated for Porsche cars and has a load and speed rating of 87V. Homologation means that Porsche has tested and approved this tire for use in their vehicles. This tire became popular among Porsche drivers in the late 1960s and is still considered the finest option for older Porsche models like the 911, 914, 912, and 356.

CN36 Tubeless Tires & Innertubes
While these tires are tubeless, some vintage cars, such as Porsche, require innertubes for their wheels. If you have a classic Porsche or similar vehicle that requires 165 VR 15 tires on wheels without safety ribs or wire wheels, it is recommended to use the high-quality Michelin 15E 13 innertube.
